Having fun with Outdoor Trampolines

An Outdoor trampoline is an excellent way for children to enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise at the same time. Playhouses, climbing frames, and swing sets are some of the most popular outdoor toys purchased by families today. However, trampolines are probably the most favored recreational outdoor toys purchased by consumers across the world.

Trampolines come in every shape, size, and color imaginable. There are several different types of outdoor trampolines used for varied activities. The recreational trampoline is most likely the one known best to the general public. Recreational trampolines can be as small as 34″x34″ square for small children (ages 6 and under), all the way up to 16 feet in diameter for children and adults. Some manufacturers of trampolines for preschoolers contain the trampoline inside a colorful tent or castle, providing a safety enclosure of sorts and sparking the child’s imagination at the same time. Smaller recreational trampolines can be portable, whereas the larger ones are usually assembled and placed in a specific location. This type of trampoline is seen in backyards across the world, on school playgrounds and in gymnasiums.

Professional athletes use competitive trampolines both for strength training and conditioning, but in competition as well. Olympic athletes have used them for the past several years. Gymnasiums use them to help gymnasts become stronger and learn body control. Competitive trampolines are built with more durable components and a very strong fabric. While they are sturdier than recreational trampolines, they are built to be lightweight and portable. The shape and size of this type of trampoline has been standardized, so they are the same size across the world. Since they are used for athletic competitions, competitive trampolines deliver a higher bounce and enable the athlete to perform difficult stunts.

Water trampolines are ideal for lakeside fun. They’re inflatable, portable, float on the water, and can be anchored in the open water. Even though water trampolines are designed specifically for entertainment, they are great for exercise too!

Just as with other outdoor toys, safety rules need to be observed when using all types of trampolines. A few manufacturers build in safety features to their trampolines, or they offer accessories that help to make the trampolines safer to use. One safety feature is a “bulls-eye” stitched into the middle of the canvas. This gives the jumper on an outdoor trampoline an awareness of where he is on the trampoline and can therefore stay closer to the middle. There are manufacturers that offer the trampoline with an enclosure (safety net) that is easily attached for further safety. The enclosures are meant to keep the jumper from falling off of the trampoline if they lose control of their jumps.

The bounce mat must be inspected regularly to check for fraying fabric or breakage. Over time, any trampoline bounce mat will succumb to wear and tear and the outdoor elements. Check with the manufacturer concerning their warranty on the bounce mat. Warranties do vary, so be sure you have something in writing. A good standard for a trampoline warranty is 5 years. Trampoline owners may want to consider investing in a cover for theirĀ outdoor trampolines to extend the life of the mat.

Things to look for in an Outdoor Trampoline

The popularity of outdoor trampolines has really been on the rise lately, the kids like them because they are so fun and the parents LOVE them because they are so good for you!! But if you have something that is outdoors 100% of the time then it better be made of stern stuff. So I am giving a run down of the different things to look for in an outdoor trampoline.

The Frame: You need to make sure that your outdoor trampoline frame is made from super thick metal, if it is wont last one strong wind, let alone 365 days outside enduring all that the Austral9an weather can throw at it. The thicker the metal the safer trampoline, look for a trampoline with steel tubes at least 34mm thick. Anything smaller than this is likely to bend and the whole trampoline will bounce in the air on big jumps. The frame is one of the key elements to a safe outdoor trampoline.

he Springs: You need heavy duty high tensile steel to make a trampoline spring. Think about the weather conditions that they have to ensure as well as the stress they are under when your kids are bouncing to their hearts content. Always check the springs before you purchase a trampoline.

The Mat: The item wit the largest surface area and therefore greatest exposure to the brutal Australian sun is the trampoline mat. Make sure the trampoline mat is made of nylon or another durable material. As the mat has to have some stretch in it there really are many materials that would be suitable. And once there is even a small hole in the trampoline mat is will spread instantly with a few jumps. So if there is even a tiny hole in your trampoline mat please do not jump on it as falling through a hole in the mat will cause great personal injury.

At the end of the day an outdoor trampoline need to be made of sturdier material than indoor or gym trampolines, and therefore it is important that you check the trampoline mat, springs, frame and enclosure to ensure that they can easily outlast a number of years in the summer sun. And as always please trampoline responsibly.

Exercising on an Outdoor Trampoline

The need to lose weight has become widespread nowadays. However, most of the people who want to lose weight are not that motivated to exercise because of the time, money, and energy that it would consume. Some would say that going to the gym is also a boring thing to do. Well, we can really never deny the fact that going to the gym is really boring for some of us. And with it, changing the way we exercise would be a great solution.

Nowadays, losing weight has become a really fun thing to do. With the advancing technology, people are trying to put an end to the old and boring ways of exercise. Nowadays, they have made exercise a really cool thing that you won’t even know you are losing weight. Now, we have the trampoline; the one that could revolutionize and renew the old ways of exercise.

A trampoline has also various types that are available to choose from. If you want to use it inside your house, an indoor trampoline would be a good choice. However, if you don’t have enough space inside your house, you can also choose an outdoor trampoline. Normally, outdoor trampolines are bigger and are more enjoyable to use. They are also ideal because you can do a lot of different exercises on them.

Using a large outdoor trampoline is better because it allows easy movement while you exercise. The most common thing to do in with it is by simply jumping up and down on it. You can also run in place and even toes touches. Doing those simple exercises with your trampoline ensures you to burn unnecessary fats and calories while having fun jumping.

With the revolutionized way of doing exercises, we can never really fail to get that body figure that we want to have.

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 or UFC Personal Trainer?

I’m looking to purchase either of the two fitness games (for Xbox 360 Kinect) within the next few days and I’m having trouble deciding which would be better for me.

I currently don’t play any competitive sports, the only sport I engage in is equestrian (horse riding). Mind you, I regularly go for bike rides, take my dog for a walk and bounce around on our outdoor trampoline (it’s HUGE by the way).

Anyway, I want a game that responds to my actions well and can push me to the limit. I want to be sweating by the end of it. My long term goal is to lose at least 10 kilos and to tone my legs and buttocks. I currently weigh 65kg (hence why I want to lose weight).

Before you suggest looking at online reviews, I have and that still hasn’t helped. I want YOUR opinion on which is better (preferable people who have actually PLAYED one or both of the games in question).

Thanks :)

How far do you let your kids attempt physical daring?

Do you make your kid wear a helmet for all outdoor activities where they could possibly get injured? What’s your take on climbing trees, trampolines, bikes and scooters, roller skates (which was this weekend’s attempt by my son….) etc. Are there things your kids are not allowed to do and why are they not allowed to do them?

what can I do for outdoor play activities?

I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and I need to come up with some outdoor things to do at my house to let them get rid of some of their pent up energy. I rent a home and do have a decent size yard but no fence and it’s right next to a very busy road. I need something that is easy to manage. I can’t have anything like a swing set, pool, or trampoline. ( it kills the grass that is already dead) I don’t know about sprinkler. Will try it till they say no. LOL!! I was wondering about some sort of small scale bounce house or something I can slide onto the patio. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks bunches!!!
I would love to run but I am disabled I can run/walk but only for 3-5 min increments at best. I have tumors in my feet and causes extreme pain if I am on my feet for too long.

Which outdoor trampoline should I get?

The higher I can bounce, the better! I am a beginner but have had experience on other trampolines. I do not care about color. Which one do you have? What’s the brand name? I’m 15 years old, and right now I’m looking at this one by AlleyOop:

What do i do if i get bored of something?

When i was young in 2005 – early 2008 i Played the online games runescape they as i grew up and all of my friends gradually stopped playing it and moved to X-box360 i did too. So i started playing xbox and became average at it but around June someone showed me runescape again and i started playing it again and i have been playing ever since June 1. Now i am getting kind of bored with runescape as im getting to higher levels it is very hard and time consuming to get levels as well. I have around 1 Billion coins on it but i think i want to play xbox again. But when i did play xbox i would get amazingly mad at it when i was doing good and than started doing bad or all the people on there would talk shit to me and it was very stressful on me and also if i played for long periods of time my eyes would start to hurt. So i do not know what i should do i already take part in an outdoor sport (Soccer and i’ll kick the ball around when im not having practice or a game and i will also jump on my trampoline and in winter i snowboard and ski so don’t say Go outside) So i do not know if i should start back up on xbox and get very mad at it or keep playing runescape/online games. I have tried to equal it out but when i get back on xbox i play 1 game than turn it off after i die in it very stupidly. Can someone give some insight on what i should do? I know this isn’t a very easy thing to answer but im not sure what to do,
